Description: This rare, richly figured black redwood burl slab—titled “Footsteps to Heaven”—is a true natural relic. Estimated to be nearly 2,000 years old, this dense, deeply colored cut was discovered in Aptos, California, and held in private for years until finally milled to reveal its glowing heart.
The surface is laced with spider-like black veining, offering a visual depth and mystique that has to be seen in person. It’s dense, stable, and stunning—whether used as wall art, a table centerpiece, or raw stock for fine projects like knife handles, pens, gearshift knobs, charcuterie boards for displaying any type of food that needs a display board.
